Mentorship Program

One of the ultimate goals of the Athena YouAreYou Program is offering the opportunity of a mentoring relationship to the attendees. Literature will be included in each attendees packet from Big Brothers/Big Sisters a program of Catholic Social Services. Attached will be a BB/BS permission form for the student’s parent to sign allowing them to participate in the program.

Experience is one of life’s great instructors. It is through experience that we gain insight, wisdom and knowledge. To share one’s personal and positive experience is a gift bestowed that has unspeakable value. Mentoring is an opportunity to share one’s wealth and to gain what experience has offered. It is a relationship of tremendous opportunity as well as an enlightening experience for both individuals.

The purpose is to match a young girl with a volunteer Big Sister who would visit or talk to her one hour a week about career mentoring, educational opportunities, age appropriate recreational activities and in general just help her to develop the tools to be strong secure and proud of herself.

Athena Award Winners, who largely comprised the Athena Program Committee, and Circle 200 women who are willing to volunteer their time as mentors through the program.
